Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association celebrating 25th anniversary
Members of the Elmhurst Police Department Citizens Police Academy (CPA) Alumni Association, shown here during the city’s annual Public Night Out in early August, is celebrating 25 years helping out the City of Elmhurst and the police department. CPA is an organization of citizens who want to be more informed about the police department and the community. It began in 2000 with several citizens taking classes at the police department and learning the ins and outs of the department. A class was organized with officers training CPA members. In 2001, the alumni association was created. Since that time, the association has participated in many volunteer opportunities including the Pet Parade, 4 on the 4th, the Memorial Day Parade, Cop on a Rooftop and many more. It also has assisted the department in the purchase of items they needed, and contributed to community needs.
