IC Catholic Prep football team moves to 4-0

Make it 4-0 for the IC Catholic Prep football team.

The Knights, tied for the top ranking in the state in Class 3A, opened Chicago Catholic League White Division play with a 33-7 win over Chicago DePaul College Prep at Lewis Stadium at Plunkett Athletic Complex in Elmhurst on Friday, Sept. 11.

ICCP racked up 436 yards of total offense en route to the win. Quarterback Nathan Lang completed 16 of 20 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown. Junior Jake Yost also saw quarterback action and completed six of nine passes for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Knights quarterbacks hit seven different receivers in the contest. Grant Bowen had a particularly impressive evening, grabbing seven passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. He had a long catch of 30 yards.

Jaden Penna caught four passes for 42 yards, while Will Schmidt had three catches for 32 yards. Johanye Andrew had three catches for 15 yards. Quai McGee had two catches for 29 yards and a touchdown.

Sophomore Jakobe Baldwin ran 12 times for 134 yards and scored three touchdowns. ICCP had 170 rushing yards against DePaul (2-2, 0-1).

The Knights were again strong on defense where they registered 12 tackles for loss. Jalen Banks had eight tackles, including three for loss. KJ Reese had seven tackles, including two for loss. Luke Rhomberg had five tackles, while Josh Shaw had four tackles, including two for loss.

Isaac Barrientos had one quarterback hurry, while Schmidt and McGee each had a pass deflection.
