The Elmhurst Police Department joined other law enforcement agencies in searching for a suspect near Butterfield Road and Commonwealth Lane on Thursday, April 30.
According to the police department, at about 8:15 p.m., another police agency pursued a suspected stolen vehicle into Elmhurst. The vehicle crashed at Butterfield and Commonwealth. One suspect ran east from the scene and was last seen along Salt Creek between Commonwealth and Spring Road.
Authorities used public safety drones and police K9s to search for the subject, who was described as a black male, wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans. Multiple residents reported seeing and hearing helicopters circling the area during the evening.
At 11:25 p.m. on April 30, the Elmhurst Police Department stated that the suspect had not been located. Police encouraged residents living near Eldridge Park to call 911 if they observed suspicious activity.
At 6:40 a.m. on Friday, May 1, police stated that after overnight searches, the suspect was not located in the area.
