The City of Elmhurst is marking an important milestone in the Police Station Project as the Elmhurst Police Department prepares to transition operations to its temporary station at 180 W. Park Ave.
The move will allow the project to advance toward construction of a new police station at the Department’s existing site, 125 E. First St. In-person police services for the public has now transitioned to 180 W. Park Ave. Police services will continue without interruption throughout the move.
Residents should continue to call 911 for emergencies and the department’s non-emergency line for non-emergency police assistance. The department is anticipated to operate from the temporary station for approximately 20 months while the new facility is constructed.
Relocating operations is a significant step forward in a carefully planned process designed to keep the police department fully operational while the city invests in its long-term public safety infrastructure.
The project has advanced through extensive planning and public review. Earlier this year, the Elmhurst City Council approved the exterior design for the new station following public meetings, community open houses and review by city commissions and committees.
The new facility is being designed to improve accessibility and operational efficiency and provide the technology, space and functionality needed to support modern policing and serve the Elmhurst community well into the future.
