The Elmhurst Knights of Columbus Council 1911 raised $10,000 to support an Elmhurst family facing extraordinary challenges, thanks to the generosity of the community and more than 100 people who participated in this year's Poker Bike Run on July 18.

The funds will provide direct financial assistance to a family of six as they navigate an incredibly difficult time. The father of four is battling severe dementia, while his wife has stepped away from work to care for him full-time and support their children, who range in age from 9 months to high school age.

More than 100 people come together to help. The annual Poker Bike Run brought together more than 100 riders, supporters and community members on July 18. The event gave the community an opportunity to come together while raising funds to directly support the local family in need.

Rocco Revello, chairman of this year's Poker Bike Run, said, “The Poker Bike Run is about a lot more than getting together for a great day with friends and fellow riders. It’s about coming together as a community when someone needs help. When we learned what this family was going through, we knew we wanted this year’s event to make a meaningful difference. Seeing more than 100 people show up and support this family was truly special, and I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish together.”
