Amy Fahey, chair of the Board of Directors of the First Women's Bank, will be the featured speaker at the Wednesday, Nov. 4 meeting of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Elmhurst Area Branch NFP.
The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. at the Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave., Elmhurst.
Founded in 2021, the First Women's Bank is the only bank in the country with a strategic focus on supporting the women's economy and closing the gender gap in lending. To support this mission, they recruit deposits from individuals, organizations, and corporations that share their vision. These funds are then strategically deployed to support small businesses with a focus on supporting the women's economy.
Fahey has a long history in banking and will share the journey of the bank, its current collaborations, and its plans for the future. In addition to her work in banking, Fahey has served on numerous non-profit boards including United Way, Goodman Theater, and All Chicago Making Homelessness History. She earned a bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Northern Illinois University and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago.
Since retiring, she has consulted for a number of non-profit organizations, including Opportunity International and IC Catholic Prep.
